Former Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal (2017-2025)
Mr Justice French became a Non-Permanent Judge of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal in 2017.
Mr Justice French was born in Perth, Western Australia, in 1947. He studied at the University of Western Australia and was admitted to practice in Western Australia as a Barrister and Solicitor in 1972. He is an Honorary Bencher of Gray’s Inn and Lincoln’s Inn.
Mr Justice French was appointed a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia in 1986. From 2008 to 2017, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia.
Mr Justice French was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia in 2010.
