Former Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal (2009-2024)

Mr Justice Gleeson became a Non-Permanent Judge of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal in 2009.

Mr Justice Gleeson was born in Australia in 1938. He graduated with a BA and LLB from Sydney University in 1962. He was called to the New South Wales Bar in 1963 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1974. In 1989, he became an Honorary Master of the Bench of the Middle Temple.

In 1988, Mr Justice Gleeson was appointed Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. From 1998 to 2008, he served as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia.

Mr Justice Gleeson was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia in 1992.

Mr Justice Gleeson was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star in 2020.
