Sir Daryl Dawson became a Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal in 1997.

Sir Daryl Dawson was born in Australia in 1933. He graduated with a LLB from the University of Melbourne and a LLM from Yale University. He was admitted to the Victorian Bar in 1957 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1971. From 1974 to 1982, he served as the Solicitor-General for Victoria.

In 1982, Sir Daryl Dawson was appointed to the Bench of the High Court of Australia, where he served until 1997.

Sir Daryl Dawson was knighted in 1982. In 1986, he was appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia.
