Former Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal (1998-2004)

Donald James Nicholls became a Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal in 1998.

Lord Nicholls was born in the United Kingdom in 1933. He graduated with an LLB from the University of Liverpool as well as a MA and LLB from Trinity Hall, Cambridge. He was called to the English Bar at the Middle Temple in 1958. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1974 and became a Bencher of the Middle Temple in 1981. He was Treasurer of the Middle Temple in 1997.

From 1983 to 1986, Lord Nicholls served as a Judge of the Chancery Division of the High Court. He was appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in 1986 and a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary in 1994. He was Second Senior Lord of Appeal from 2002 to 2007.

Lord Nicholls passed away in 2019.
