Mr Justice Ching became a Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal in 1997 and a Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal in 2000.
Mr Justice Ching was born in Hong Kong in 1935. He obtained an MA from University College, Oxford. He was called to both the English Bar at Gray's Inn and the Hong Kong Bar in 1959. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1974.
Mr Justice Ching was appointed a Justice of Appeal in 1995.
Mr Justice Ching was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal in 2000. He died in the same year. The Hong Kong Bar Association Charles Ching Memorial Scholarship was set up after his death.
