Former Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal (1997-2009)

Sir Noel Power became a Non-Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal in 1997.

Sir Noel Power was born in Australia in 1929. He obtained a BA and LLB from the University of Queensland in 1953 and 1955 respectively. He was admitted to the Bar in 1955.

In 1965, Sir Noel Power joined the Hong Kong Judiciary as a Magistrate at Central Magistracy. He was appointed a Senior Magistrate between 1969 and 1975. He was the President of the Lands Tribunal between 1976 and 1979. He became a Judge of the High Court in 1979. He was appointed a Justice of Appeal in 1987. From 1993 to 1999, he served as a Vice-President of the Court of Appeal. He also served as the Acting Chief Justice between 1996 and 1997.

Sir Noel Power was knighted and awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star in 1999. He died in 2009.
