Former Registrar of the Court of Final Appeal (1997-1999)

Mr Woolley became the Registrar of the Court of Final Appeal in 1997.

Mr Woolley was born in Tristan da Cunha in 1942. He received his education at Heidelberg University, the College of Law, London and the Gibson & Weldon College of Law, Chancery Lane. He was called to the English Bar at the Middle Temple in 1968.

Mr Woolley worked in the Legal Aid Department between 1973 and 1985, as Legal Aid Officer, Senior Legal Aid Officer, Assistant Principal Legal Aid Officer and Assistant Director of Legal Aid. He was appointed an Assistant Registrar of the Supreme Court in 1985. From 1989, he served as a Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court and was re-titled as Senior Deputy Registrar of the High Court in 1999.
